This is our standard FFT style insert. It installs flush to the surface and is available in short and long lengths. We stock them in both fine and course inch thread sizes as well as in metric.
When the bolt hole needs to be sealed liquid or air tight our FFB style insert is used to seal the bottom of the hole. The insert comes with a solid bottom. The threads on the outside can seal up to 10,000 PSI.
These inserts are commonly used to replace stripped, cracked or badly damaged holes. An engine block with a cracked bolt hole that leaks water can be permanently restored to better than new condition. This style also installs flush to the surface and does not require machining.
Bolt holes like this that connect with the water jacket of an engine block need to be sealed water tight. The FFB style insert can easily seal a damaged bolt hole like this. In certain cases like this will require some crack repair with our Castmaster stitching pins to complete the repair and to seal the leaks completely.

FST and FSB style inserts are available for extra strength applications where the bolt hole need extra reinforcement around the hole.
