Hot welding is a term that describes the type of environment we place a part into during the entire welding process. High temperature preheat eliminates localized expansion and contraction, effectively eliminating weld-induced expansion stress. By maintaining the high temperature throughout the procedure, we neutralize the contraction stresses that would occur during solidification of the weld deposit. A very slow cool-down causes proper realignment of the molecular structure, preventing hardness and distortion. Please take the time to read our section about Cast Iron Welding.
