Cutting Tools: Taps and
Drills
Each stitching pin, thread insert and
lock has its own cutting tools.
The LOCK-N-STITCH®
POWERTAP™ design incorporates shallower flutes for increased strength
and for use in power tapping. Made of both M-1 tool steel and CPM-M4 powdered metal technology for abrasion resistance,
these taps are available for the L Series pins. We also have a patented piloted tap to help keep the tap aligned to the drilled
hole. The taps for the C Series pins are extremely durable and they are
also shaped for self-alignment. Check out the taps
for both the L Series and C Series.
We offer two types
of drill bits: Tough Duty and AccuSize™ Tough
Duty driill bits are made of high quality
tool steel and are heat-treated to higher hardness. Patent pending AccuSize™
drill bits prevent oversizing and
egg-shaping drilled holes. Having a good, round and accurate-sized hole is
essential to making a good repair.
A countersink is optional for L Series stitching pins and a
spotfacer is required for all C Series pins installed into through holes.
Read more about these cutting tools on the Cutting
Tools: Drills page.
Fluids
We
have a newly formulated cutting and tapping fluid you can use for cast iron,
steel, and aluminum. This recent version of L750 increases drying
time, lengthens the life of your tooling, still dries without a residue, and
lets you use just one tapping fluid for all your jobs.
And here is where you will find the terrific anaerobic thread
sealants that transfer heat. These sealants are valuable tools to have in
your shop. They cure quickly, saving you time between the repair and
pressure-testing. And because they conduct heat, they eliminate the
complications of uneven heat transfer.
Pneumatic Tools
The added benefit of
our metal stitching processes is being able to speed your repairs up by using
pneumatic tools. We offer a fine selection of Sioux® tooling t increase
your productivity and efficiency. Best of all, you can improve your
consistency. Check out the air drills, the impact tool and short air
hammer, the mini-needle scaler, the die grinder, and, the star of the show, the
pneumatic tapping tool.
Right Angle Tooling (for close
quarters work)
With
all this new capability at your fingertips for repairing cracks, the crucial
question has changed from "How am I going to repair this?" to one
simple query: "Is there enough space for my hands and the
tools?" Most of you have discovered that your repair limitations are
now coming from physical and environmental considerations rather than technical
capability. We're introducing a line of close quarters right angle tooling
you may find very useful when working in tight spots. The new RA line will
help you access cracks in hard-to-reach areas such as cylinder bores and other
places where standard drills and taps are too long.
Organizers
Imagine
the time you can save by being able to reach for a drill bit or tap and having
it at your fingertips. Nor more hunting through a tool box or shuffling
supplies around on the bench when you have a Tool Organizer. Or how about
the frustration of working on a cylinder head and having it move at a crucial
point? You need a set of Head Holders. And if you are looking for a
better way to keep your pins separated and identified, you may want to have a
pin Organizer Box sitting at your work station.
Stitchin' Center™
Our
patented Stitchin' Center™ is a totally self-contained work center with an
air-float rotary table and a tilting fixture for cylinder heads. We make
two models. One is for automotive and small diesel heads and the other has
a special mounting fixture for larger diesel heads. With a Stitchin'
Center™, you'll have a place for everything--all within reach. A truly
remarkable, efficiency-producing machine. And if you don't have enough
room in your shop, you may want to consider the Turn-N-Stitch™, an air-float
rotary table that mounts to your existing work bench.
Additional Items
Many more items for you to add to your
repair arsenal. Pin Spacing Drill Jigs are used to create the best spacing
for the pins. They are best for speed when stitching cracks longer than
one to three inches. Ever break a tap? They can be very difficult to
remove. Check out our tap extractors. And consider the time savings
if you use one of our Quick Change Tap Adapters. No more time-consuming
repetitive adjustment of the drive collet. Just pop the tap in and out of
the adapter. What about a fabulous inline blowgun? It is one of
those small items that make a big difference. You have to find the crack
before you can fix it, so take a look at our powerful magnet set. There's
drill stops, abrasives and more. Go check it out.
